JCPOP is the annual meeting of the BANPS network. It takes place each year in November or December and is held over a full day at one of the network’s member institutions. In 2026, the meeting will reach its 8th edition, and will take place on novembrer 19th at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
The programme usually includes a keynote lecture and three panel sessions. Each session features three parallel panels, with three papers per panel, covering a wide range of topics. The meeting is open to all.
Details of the 2025 meeting and previous editions can be found here.
The call for papers is now open for the 8th edition of the Barcelona Network of Political Science - Conference on Political Behaviour and Public Opinion (BANPS-JCPOP). The conference will take place on 19 November 2026 at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
The goal of the workshop is to foster interaction and collaboration among researchers from Catalan universities working on topics related to empirical political science. Paper topics may address aspects of political behaviour, comparative politics, political economy, public policy, and, more broadly, any area related to empirical political science (quantitative or qualitative).
Participation as a speaker is open to all levels of the academic career: doctoral students, post-docs, professors, etc are welcome to apply. The call is open to researchers across the world, but priority will be given to researchers in Catalan universities (including visiting researchers). The only requirement is to present a complete study/paper.
All accepted papers authored by junior scholars (predoc or 4 years or less after PhD and not in a tenure track position) will automatically be considered for the 2nd Edition of the Best BANPS-JCPOP Junior Paper Award. The award includes a diploma and free registration for a course at the RECSM Summer School 2027.
To propose a presentation, use this link. Abstracts (no longer than 300 words) should clearly and comprehensively describe the content of the paper, the methodology used, and, if possible, the main results. The format of the papers is open, but it is preferable that they do not exceed 8,000 words. The language of the conference will be English.
Registration for the conference as a speaker is free but implies a commitment to participate. Non-speaker registrations (also free of charge) are also accepted. Discussants for each paper will be assigned among the registered participants.
